Prosecuting departments investigated 325 corrupt railway officials involved in 291 cases over the year from May 2013 to May 2014, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Wednesday.
Prosecutors prevented economic losses of as much as 109.5 million yuan ($17.66 million), the SPP said.
According to the SPP, most of the officials who were investigated were accused of accepting bribes, embezzlement or of abusing the power of their positions to benefit others — for example, shielding suspects who were transporting drugs on trains.
