China will likely for the first time execute a German national, according to the Hamburg-based daily newspaper Bild.
The Xiamen Intermediate People's Court in Fujian province sentenced a German man to death on Wednesday.
The man identified as Philip was convicted of beating to death his ex-girlfriend and a friend of the girl's with a hammer on a street of Xiamen on June the 5th 2010.
He survived an attempted suicide after the killings.
The man broke with his girlfriend in 2005.
The execution will be carried out if getting approved by the Supreme Court.
The report said the German Foreign Ministry is trying to persuade the Chinese side to spare the man from the death sentence.
