China treats 325 injured in Yunnan quake

BEIJING - China has treated 325 people injured in the 6.6-magnitude quake that hit southwest China's Yunnan Province on Tuesday, the country's health authority said on Friday. ( As of Thursday evening, a total of 46 had been discharged after inpatient care, and 14 are still in hospitals or other medical institutions in Jinggu County, said a statement from the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

The central health authority and health departments at the provincial, city and county levels have sent 18 emergency medical teams to the quake area. The teams consist of 234 workers for medical treatment, 69 for epidemic prevention and 15 health regulation inspectors, the statement said.

The statement said that the medical center in the township of Yongping, the epicenter, as well as 28 village clinics have resumed normal operations.
