Yunnan province on Tuesday, local authorities said Wednesday.

The violence broke out between construction workers with a logistics center and residents of Fuyou village in Jinning county in the provincial capital Kunming, the Jinning county government said in a press briefing.

Among the dead, six were construction workers and two were local villagers, it said.

Meanwhile, 18 people were injured in the conflict and among them, 10 people, including one in critical condition, remained hospitalized.

Local police are investigating the cause of the clash and have vowed harsh punishment for criminal suspects.
