Expo to promote Maritime Silk Road cooperation

An industrial expo to promote cooperation between China and countries and regions along the ancient Maritime Silk Road will open soon in Dongguan, Guangdong province, organizers said on Wednesday.

The event, which is scheduled from Oct 31 to Nov 2, aims to build an exchange platform and deepen strategic cooperation between China and countries situated along the ancient maritime trade route, according to Liu Xiaojie, deputy director of the expo's organizing committee.

According to the organizers, 2,000 exhibition booths will be set up to promote the history of Guangdong's trade and cultural links with countries along the route and to display competitive products and tourism resources to boost trade and cultural cooperation.

The event will also set up exhibition zones to promote investment and cross-border e-commerce and port logistics cooperation, Liu said.

"Industrial associations and companies from 26 countries along the Maritime Silk Road have shown great interests in participate in the expo," Liu said.
