SW China province appoints acting governor

KUNMING - The legislature of Southwest China's Yunnan province on Friday appointed Chen Hao as the deputy governor and decided that he will act as governor after the resignation of Li Jiheng.

The appointment was made at a session of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan Provincial People's Congress.

Chen served as vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions before being appointed as deputy secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday.

The 60-year-old is a native of Haimen in eastern Jiangsu province.

During the same session, the local legislature also accepted the resignations of Qin Guangrong as director of its standing committee and of Li Jiheng as the provincial governor.

Li currently serves as secretary of the CPC's Yunnan Provincial Committee. Qin is his predecessor.
