PepsiCo announced on Thursday that it will donate $3 million to the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, supporting the establishment of the Chair Professorship program and a course on Responsible Corporation.

"Tsinghua is a world-renowned university, and its School of Economics is the cradle of business leaders and captains of industries," said Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo and Tsinghua SEM Advisory Board member. Nooyi added that PepsiCo intends to work with this world-class university to train future business leaders in the importance of aligning business objectives with society's needs by providing funds for the establishment of the "Course on Responsible Corporation" at Tsinghua SEM.

Chen Jining, the president of Tsinghua, expressed his appreciation of PepsiCo's care and support for the development of Tsinghua University.

"Tsinghua University and PepsiCo has forged an important partnership and shared common aspirations of values. Tsinghua University recently published 'Several Comments on all-out deepening reform of education and teaching', in which one of the core initiatives is to establish a trinity educational model on value-creation, ability-training and knowledge-transference," he said, adding that the course with PepsiCo’s cooperation will help to reinforce Tsinghua's education reform.

Tsinghua SEM has worked with many world-leading companies to reinforce its education reform, such as incorporating an advisory board mechanism.

Global business figures including Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook and Ginni Rometty, Chairman and President of IBM, are new members of the board in 2014.
