GUANGZHOU - A senior official in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, is under investigation for a suspected serious violation of discipline, said the provincial discipline watchdog on Friday.

Jiang Zunyu has been a member of the standing committee of the Communist Party of China Shenzhen Committee and secretary of the city's CPC committee of political and law affairs since January 2013.

Since the new CPC leadership assumed office, China has been pushing an unprecedented anti-graft campaign in which dozens of high-ranking officials have been investigated.

At a key meeting which ended Thursday, the CPC set a new blueprint for rule of law and promised legal reforms that are aimed at giving judges more independence and limiting local officials' influence over courts and cases.
