Three killed in boat collision in South China

GUANGZHOU - Three people were killed on Tuesday in a boat accident on the Xijiang River in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said.

The incident occurred at 3:42 am in Zhaoqing City, and involved a cargo vessel, which was transporting sand, and an anchored cargo ship.

Three of the eight people on the stationary vessel were killed.

The city's marine administration assured that no water contamination had been detected.

The investigation is underway.
