High-paying Dubai beckons Chinese speakers

A recent trend has seen Dubai become the new "Gold Rush" location for hardworking Chinese.

With intimate economic and trade relationships with China, Dubai has seen an increased demand for people who can speak Chinese. Such speakers could find jobs paying over 10,000 yuan ($1,627) a month, often in the absence of certificates or degrees.

For example, sales people in a Dubai shopping mall could earn a basic monthly salary of more than 20,000 yuan, with commissions on top.

While Dubai brims with the newly rich, it remains relatively cheap compared to first-tier cities across China. For instance, a 90 square meter apartment costs just over 2 million yuan in Dubai. Cars of the same type also cost only half as much as they do in China.

Netizens joked that to work in Dubai is better than being a "Beipiao", a neologism referring to those struggling to make their fortunes in Beijing.
