BEIJING - Yang Senlin, former vice chief of north China's Shanxi Province's discipline agency, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and from his post, according to a statement by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Investigators found that Yang took advantage of his post to seek profits for others, accepted huge amounts of bribes, including money and gifts, and committed adultery.

"Yang's acts constitute severe violations of party rules and the law. His acceptance of bribes constitutes a criminal offense," the statement said, adding that Yang's case had been transferred to the judiciary.

Yang's illegal gains have been confiscated.
