Stamps featuring the goat of the Chinese zodiac were released in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, on Monday, attracting hundreds of local residents to line up for the items, according to the local postal authority.
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2015 is the Year of Goat, the eighth in order of the 12 zodiac animals.
The local postal authority also held an exhibition to display zodiac-themed stamps from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan on Monday. The exhibition will conclude on Jan 11th in Guangzhou, which is historically known as the city of the goat.
China began to issue zodiac-themed stamps on Jan 5th, 1980, with each series starting from the Year of Monkey and ending in the Year of Goat.
