United in uniforms

I think my uniform is really comfortable… but sometimes the buttons fall off. If I was the principal of a school, I wouldn't cancel school uniforms, I would keep them because they represent the school and make you look smart. If someone leaves the school grounds, then another person can ask if they should be at school because they know the uniform.

Isabella Van der Putten from BISS, Age 12

My uniform in high school was so big that I could put two legs together in one trouser leg, which reflected the school had no thought to our uniforms.

An anonymous reader of Shanghai Star

None of my school uniforms looked pretty. If my uniforms were still wet after being washed and I wore other clothes to school, my points would be deducted by the teacher. I was so envious of the schoolgirls in Japanese and Korean TV series.

Leona Wang, Shanghai Star reader

Our school uniforms are the best, because you can wear them till you are old. They are so economic.

Vera Huang/苹苹, Shanghai Star reader

I never wore my uniforms in middle school because it was not compulsory to wear them. They didn't fit me well and they were dowdy. But my university uniform looked better. My roommates and I would go out and take photos in every beautiful spot on campus, wearing our uniforms. All of my classmates signed on my uniform upon graduation. It is such a beautiful memory.

Wu Shanshan, journalist

I want my son's school uniform to be comfortable to wear and simple in style. Boys and girls' uniforms should be different.
