As most Chinese prepare for the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday, villagers of Gaocheng district, Shijiazhuang of Hebei province, are busy making traditional lanterns for the festival. The district boasts more than 1,100 lantern factories with total output value reaching one billion yuan ($160,000,000). About 80 percent of the lanterns in China are produced in this district, which also imports its products to some 20 countries, including the US, UK, France and Japan.
