A migrant worker's music dream

The 21-year-old migrant worker Meng Xuanyou, who has a dream of becoming a singer, organized a Spring Festival gala in Nongding village of Bansheng township, south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region this year.

Two years ago, Meng came to the neighboring Guangdong Province and worked for a suitcase manufacturer.

In his spare time, he liked singing. To fulfill his music dream, Meng spent one month's salary on a guitar and some other musical instruments, and gave himself a stage name.

The gala encouraged Meng and provided him the first opportunity to perform on the stage.

In neighboring villages of Nongding, some young people working in Guangdong chose singing as their profession. Some of them succeeded and became professional singers.

Meng Xuanyou looks forward to joining them. He yearns for a happy life in modern cities.
