Domestic film 'Wolf Warriors' rules China's box office

BEIJING -- Domestic action film Wolf Warriors, which debuted April 2, led China's box office with 210.8 million yuan (about $34 million) in the week ending April 5.

English director Matthew Vaughn's action-fantasy Kingsman: The Secret Service, which opened on March 27, was a respectable No. 2 with 196 million yuan in the week, China Film News reported on Wednesday.

The total box office of Kingsman: The Secret Service reached 352 million yuan on April 5. It was followed by domestic romance Let's Get Married, which pulled in 148 million yuan since opening on April 2.

Insanity, a domestic thriller, came in fourth with 27.2 million after it was released on April 3.

Rounding out the top five was the live-action remake of animated classic Cinderella, which earned 21.8 million yuan in the week.

The total box office of the adventure-fantasy, which stars Lily James and Cate Blanchett, stood at 441.8 million yuan on April 5 after its opening in Chinese theaters on March 13.
