SHIJIAZHUANG - A woman fell to her death a day after her husband, a police officer in North China's Hebei province, died fighting a gunman, according to local authorities.

The woman fell from a local hotel on Wednesday morning, according to a spokesman with the public security bureau of Cangzhou city.

Her 48-year-old husband, Xue Yongqing, who worked with the public security bureau of Suning county, was shot dead by gunman Liu Shuangrui from Xishibao village of Suning, which is administered by Cangzhou.

It remains unknown whether the woman intended to kill herself.

Liu killed two fellow villagers and two police officers and injured five others in a series of shootings lasting from late Monday night until early Tuesday morning.

Liu was trapped in his house and found dead at around 5 am on Tuesday when police entered the house. The exact cause of his death is under investigation.
