98 percent graduates from Xi'an Jiaotong University get job offers

The undergraduates and graduates of master's and doctoral degrees celebrated their graduation from Xi'an Jiaotong University, one of China's top universities in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, with nearly 98 percent of the initial employment rate.

According to Zheng Qinghua, vice president of the university, the employment rate for undergraduates of his school reached 97.6 percent, while the data for graduates of master's and doctoral degree was 97.8 percent, by June 25.

The total number of undergraduates and graduates from the school this year was 6,281 and the statistics of initial employment includes the students employed by various employers, or enrolled for further studies by Chinese and foreign universities.

Recently, a salary ranking list of Chinese university graduates made by Standard Ranking (China) Research Institute showed that the graduates from Xi'an Jiaotong University could get a monthly salary of averagely 8,222 yuan ($1,324) after working for 5 years.

Xi'an Jiaotong University was number one for the salary ranking among the universities in Shaanxi province, and was listed 23 in China, the ranking list said.

The graduates from Xi'an Jiaotong University enjoyed good employment, Zheng said, and those with professions of electrics, telecom, energy, management and economy were much welcomed by the labor market.

Nabila Javed Ahmed is a Pakistani student came to the university in September, 2012 for clinical master degree who made a graduation speech at the ceremony held on Saturday.

"We overcame our doubts, fears and earned experience. From now on, it will be a central part of who we are. We will have huge new responsibilities as we will enter the realm of working life," Ahmed said.
