Overseas Chinese will provide assistance to implement the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative, vice-minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council said on Monday.

"Overseas Chinese from the countries and regions along the 'Belt and Road' project have abundant financial resources," said Zhuang Rongwen, vice minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council at the regular news conference of the State Council Information Office, adding that overseas Chinese will help China's industrial transformation and also join in facilitation construction in residential countries and regions along the "Belt and Road".

"The 60 million overseas Chinese are valuable resources for China, with their abundant capital, technology, human resources, and social networks," Zhuang said, adding that over 60 percent of foreign capital in China since 1978 was invested by overseas Chinese.

He also said that the majority of the "1,000 Talent Plan" experts and scholars are overseas Chinese.

To allow overseas Chinese to understand the initiative and other national strategic plans, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office will hold the first World Overseas Chinese Industry and Commerce Conference in July in Beijing. More than 300 overseas Chinese business leaders from 79 countries and regions will join the conference.

World-renowned overseas Chinese business tycoons including Dhanin Chearavanont and Robert Kuok will join the conference.
