China allows trans-provincial traffic ticket payment

BEIJING - China will pilot a trans-provincial traffic citation payment policy, allowing drivers to pay fines outside the provinces where the tickets are assigned.

The new rule will go into effect from July 1 in six of the country's provinces, including Shandong, Guizhou and Yunnan, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Tuesday.

Under the trial regulation, motorists who have tickets for traffic violations, can complete transactions through designated banks outside their provinces in person, online or by mobile phone.

According to China's current traffic safety rules, vehicle owners are required to pay fines through banks within their own province for traffic violations.
