Tsinghua and Johns Hopkins offer joint public health degree

Top universities from both China and the United States will work together to run an education project on public health management and leadership.

Tsinghua University and Bloomberg School of Public Health under Johns Hopkings University signed a cooperative contract on Thursday in Beijing, to launch a doctor's degree program of public health in healthcare management and leadership.

The program prepares students to become leading public health professionals capable of addressing current health problems through multidisciplinary approaches that apply the latest scientific knowledge.

The program will start to run in autumn this year. Courses are various from finical financial management to health economics. A total score of 141 is required to earn the degree. of 141 scores are required to get the degree.

"Professors from Johns Hopkings will give lectures in Tsinghua, which means no matter whether you are students a student from China or the US, you will have the same teacher to guarantee the education qualitythe quality of the education received," said Xue Lei, dean of the Institute for Hospital Management of Tsinghua Universty.
