China's first high-speed railway to Hunchun, a city bordering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has served more than 1 million passengers since it started operation, China News Service reported on Monday.

The high-speed railway, running between Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province and Hunchun, officially opened on Sept 20.

Dubbed by Chinese media as the most beautiful high-speed rail line in Northeast China, the line gives travelers views of a series of scenic spots, including Changbai Mountain, Fala Mountain, Songhua Lake, Yanming Lake and Fangchuan Township.

The line's opening has contributed to the development of tourism alongside it. Statistics show that 224,000 people traveled to Hunchun during the National Day holiday, a number equal to the population of the city.

Statistics from Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, where Hunchun is located, show the line received 380,000 passengers during the National Day holiday, and Oct 4 alone saw 55,000 passengers.
