BEIJING -- Beijing police announced Tuesday that they have rewarded three citizens who provided tip-offs, and called for the public to help fight against terrorism.

A resident was rewarded with 3,000 yuan (around $470) on Thursday for providing information on a bomb threat published online. Police detained one suspect based on the tip-off.

Another two Beijing residents were also rewarded with 3,000 yuan each for providing terror tip-offs, said police, without giving more details.

A spokesman for Beijing police said they have rewarded more than 500 people with over 600,000 yuan since the city announced rewards for terror informants in March 2014.
