Xunlonghe, a stream scissored village in the northeastern suburbs of Changsha, is luring local tourists with its futuristic guest houses and scenic gardens.
Local government is trying to promote the town as an escape for the people living in the cities nearby as they are rolling out the "two oriented society" reform, which refers to resource conservative and environment friendly society.
Xunlonghe is only 25 minutes drive to Changsha, which has more than seven million residents.
The government believes tourism need for high quality resorts will be China's next new drive to the economy, especially the projects that are ecology and culture oriented.
Xunlonghe's ecological project is right to the spot.
An educational training base is planned for children to have interactive training lessons in the natural environment where they could learn about nature first hand.
Several guest house designed with inspiration of tree house are built on the hillside as a nice getaway resorts for people from nearby places.
It also provides campsite, archery range and horse ranch for tourists who like to get close to the nature.
A group of foreigner represents who join the two-day trip learning how Changsha makes its eco-friendly development show quite interest in the project. One of the representatives said: "This place looks so cool and I can see how government tries to boost economy with environment-friendly concept.
"In addition, there's a farm for families where people can rent a piece of land to grow their own vegetables and crops. People also can visit local orchid and have one-day experience as a farmer."Two oriented society" is one of the series activities of the Fourth Internet Culture Festival in Hunan.
