BEIJING - Former Vice Chairman of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Bai Xueshan has been expelled from office and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for "severe disciplinary violations."

The CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Monday accused Bai of "seriously violating political discipline, opposing investigations, and concealing the truth from authorities."

He was also accused of seeking benefits for businesses owned by family members and others. He sought personal gains while handling personnel affairs, during which it is suspected he violated laws.

He was found being engaged in superstitious activities for a long time, which has been banned among CPC members.

The CCDI announced earlier in November that Bai was under probe for suspected "severe disciplinary violations." His case has been transferred to judicial organs.
