Beijing is ready for rose blossom

Beijing will host The 2016 World Federation of Rose Societies Regional Convention in Daxing district from May 18 to 24.

Co-hosted by the World Federation of Rose Societies, the China Flower Association, and the Beijing municipal government, the convention will provide an opportunity for enterprises and individuals from all over the world to share new technologies in breeding, cultivation, and landscaping.

More than 800 eminent gardeners from 41 countries around the world will take part in 16 academic lectures and one international breeding forum.

A total of 2000 different colored roses will be on display. The roses will be open to the public where visitors can get overall knowledge of its growing history while appreciating the breathtaking scenery.

"The planting scale has hit nearly 400 hectares over the whole Daxing district. With the host of this convention, we can accelerate the rose growing industry while highlighting the regional development of Daxing," said He Rui, deputy district mayor of Daxing.

Daxing district has an ever-expanding rose industry with more than 1,000 varieties of China roses. Most China roses in Beijing's second and third ring area come from the district.

Daxing plans to add an area of 5,000 mu (333 hectares) dedicated for rose planting to develop a full industrial chain to integrate rose development with agriculture and tourism.

The World Federation of Rose Societies, founded in 1968, is a non-commercial international organization with 41 member countries. It aims to popularize rose information worldwide.
