Xu Xiaoping, one of China's foremost angel investors and founder of Zhen Fund, also predicts an explosion in the entrepreneurship and innovation based on the next-generation platform of technologies such as big data, cloud computing, augmented reality and virtual reality.

"High-end technology is vividly felt by almost everybody now," Xu said, adding that these disruptive technologies are now being used in apps for everyday use.

This year marks the first time that the Demo China Summits chose the frontier technologies as the theme for its technology sub-forum. Since 2009, the sub forum used mobile internet as its theme.

The top prize of 2016 Demo China road shows, the Demo God, went to a technology company, Microduino, which offers stack-able electronic hardware for makers, designers, engineers, students and tinkers. As a set procedure, the company auctioned 1 percent of its stock and Zhou Kui, partner of Sequoia Capital China, got it with a bid at 1.91 million yuan. Last year, Microduino was ranked among the top five smart hardwares around the world by the Time magazine.
