The president of China Central Television was appointed head of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television on Thursday.
Nie Chenxi, who had been the vice-president of the administration since 2013, as well as the president of CCTV since April 2015, replaced Cai Fuchao.
Nie will also take the mantle of deputy head of the Communist Party of China Central Committee's Publicity Department.
Born in 1957 in North China's Hebei province, Nie holds a doctor's degree in management science from Tianjin University. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1993.
He worked as an engineer in Hebei during his early career, and became the head of the province's publicity department in 2006.
In 2012, Nie entered the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the former body of State Administration of the Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, as deputy Party chief.
The administration is the supervisor of State-owned institutes engaged in press, television, radio and film.
