Fudan University recruiting faculty for Fudan-Oceanwide International School of Finance

The first institution of higher education that Chinese took the initiative to set up, Fudan University, with over a 110 year history since its establishment in 1905, has grown into a top comprehensive research university in China with 11 disciplines in humanities, social sciences, science and engineering, medicine and art.

With the support from China Oceanwide Holdings Group, Fudan University has decided to set up Fudan-Oceanwide International School of Finance (FOISF), which will serve as a showcase for the establishment of innovative schools at Fudan. Using the pattern of a world-class school, FOISF aims to become a top school and think tank of finance in the world that has the best faculty working on the education of high-end talents and state-of-the-art academic and policy research.

Fudan University is recruiting candidates from all over the world to fill the faculty posts of FOISF. Candidates will need to be an excellent academic in finance who has a global vision.

1. Posts available

Faculty posts will be available in the following areas: international finance, financial markets and investment, corporate finance, financial engineering, risk management, internet finance and big data finance.

2. Successful candidates will possess

2.1 Candidates for professor

2.1.1 A PhD in finance or economics; achievements in finance-related areas and international academic background;

2.1.2 At least 4 publications in international class A journals of economics or finance if the candidate comes from overseas,or 3 publications in international class A journals and 2 publications in international class B journals (International class A and B journals recognized by Fudan School of Economics) in the past five years; at least 4 publications in Class A domestic journals recognized by Fudan School of Economics (Chinese Social Science, Economic Research Journal) as first author, or at least 3 publications in Class A domestic journals and 2 publications in Class B domestic journals as first author, or publications comparable to overseas candidates in the past five years, if the candidate comes from within mainland China;

2.1.3 Candidates from within mainland China will need experience presiding over and organizing teams for research projects. Two national vertical projects are the minimum requirement.

2.1.4 Excellent skills in teaching and supervising postgraduate students.

2.2 Candidates for associate professor

2.2.1 A PhD in finance or economics; achievements in finance-related areas and international academic background;

2.2.2 At least 2 publications in international class A journals of economics or finance if the candidate comes from overseas,or 1 publication in international class A journals and 2 publications in international class B journals (International class A and B journals recognized by Fudan School of Economics) in recent five years; at least 3 publications in Class A domestic journals recognized by Fudan School of Economics (Chinese Social Science, Economic Research Journal) as first author, or at least 2 publications in Class A domestic journals and 2 publications in Class B domestic journals as first author, or publications comparable to overseas candidates, if the candidate comes from within mainland China;

2.2.3 Candidates from within mainland China will need experience presiding over and organizing teams for research projects. One national vertical project is the minimum requirement.

2.2.4 Excellent skills in teaching and supervising postgraduate students.

2.3 Candidates for assistant professor

2.3.1 A PhD in finance or economics and potential in finance-related areas;

2.3.2 At least 2 working papers if the candidate has obtained a PhD degree from overseas; at least 2 publications in Class A domestic journals recognized by Fudan School of Economics (Chinese Social Science, Economic Research Journal) as first author, or at least 1 publication in Class A domestic journals and 2 publication in Class B domestic journals as first author, if the candidate comes from within mainland China;

2.3.3 Excellent teaching skills.

Candidates with overseas teaching posts will be preferred.

3. Job responsibilities will include

3.1 Teaching activities at FOISF;

3.2 Research projects with financing obtained from central and local governments, as well as ministries, along with significant international projects and research projects to serve society;

3.3 Research on significant financial theory and policy leading to publications in domestic and international top journals of economics or finance;

3.4 Participation in international exchange in research and teaching.

4. Term of employment and salary

One term will be six years and there will be a mid-term evaluation in the 3rd year. The appointment can be extended upon a satisfying evaluation. A tenured faculty position of the university will be provided to successful candidates from overseas.

The salary and benefits will be no less than those offered by a similar position around the world. The details will be discussed in person. All relevant preferential policies of the government and the university will be applied, and efficient administration staff will be in place.
