Seven trapped in flooded coal mine in E China
NANCHANG - Seven miners were trapped underground in a flooded coal mine in Yichun city, east China's Jiangxi province.
A total of 21 miners were working underground when the flooding occurred at 23:10 p.m. Tuesday in a coal mine shaft in a village in Yuanzhou District, Yichun city. As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, 14 have been lifted up, while seven others remain trapped.
Underground communication has been restored, rescuers are installing pumping equipments to rescue those trapped.
Doctors and local officials have joined the rescue operation.
