Sino-UK high-level conference to be held in Shanghai
The fourth conference of the China-UK high-level people-to-people mechanism will be held in Shanghai on Dec 6, the Ministry of Education announced during a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
Both countries will deepen cooperation and work together to realize goals set by both sides in the fields of people-to-people exchanges through the upcoming conference, said Xu Tao, director of the ministry's Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, at the conference.
According to Xu, the upcoming conference will consist of a plenary session and six events in five fields of people-to-people exchanges. About 600 participants from China and UK are expected to attend to event.
The conference will include a Sino-British forum on basic education, a bilateral dialogue on think tanks, a roundtable young leaders and a symposium in memory of two prominent figures of China and the UK who died in the same year of 1616: Tang Xianzu, a playwright in the Ming Dynasty (AD1368-1644), and William Shakespeare.
More than 10 agreements of cooperation are expected to be signed during the conference, Xu said.
