With the popularity of e-commerce, urban residents prefer to shop and order meals at home via smartphone apps, which has boosted the delivery industry.

According to data from 58.com, both food couriers and general expressmen earned about 7,000 yuan each month this year. If e-merchants include the shopping days like "Double 11" and "Back Friday", couriers make over 10,000 yuan a month from the surge of online orders.

Technicians are well paid due to a national employment gap. For example, the report says China lacked 114,000 air-conditioner installers in the first three quarters of 2016. In the busy season, some air-conditioner producers tried to attract workers with a 10,000 plus salary.
