Murderer of college student in Beijing sentenced to death

BEIJING -- Li Sida, convicted of killing a student, was sentenced to death by a court in Beijing on Friday.

The No 3 Intermediate People's Court of Beijing heard that Li attended the Communication University of China with the victim, Zhou Yunlu who died at the age of 22.

According to the court, Li coaxed Zhou to his residence in Chaoyang district on the afternoon of August 9 last year at the excuse of making a video, then stabbed her to death.

Li, 24, admitted to the crime. He told police that he killed Zhou after he failed to rape her.

The court found that the facts of Li's murder were clear and the consequences were severe. Therefore he was sentenced to death.

Li said he would appeal.
