Fan Di'an, CPPCC member, President of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts

"Protecting the cultural heritage in villages and towns is supposed to take into consideration the latest urbanization drive. Two problems remain unsettled in reality. Firstly, people cannot get good ideas from professionals. They are not sure to protect on the spot or build another site in cultural heritage protection. Secondly, people pay too much attention to details and ignore the general picture of protecting heritage. A combination of professional advice and academic study is necessary in the future".

Yang Jun, NPC member, President of the Hubei Opera Art Theatre

"It is good to know that the opera has been passed on from generation to generation. However, some phenomena deserve people's attention including the decrease of drama genres and groups, loss of talents and reduction of fine art performances.

"Some art groups have converted from cultural organizations into enterprises for survival and development. In deepening the reform on cultural mechanism, the government should take measures on the basis of scientific evaluation to make them benefit from released policies".

Yu Hui,CPPCC member, Researcher of the Palace Museum

"For the moment, the lack of a cultural relics qualification system results in ill behavior in the market including the violation of law and cheating of customers.

"China should set up a cultural relics qualification system at national level. Certified firms and offices should also be established and shoulder responsibility as well in reference to the law firms. Experienced individuals or retirees from museums can work at these firms after passing the certification exams. Ill-behaved workers should be faced with cancelation or withdrawal of certificates when behaving improperly".
