7 killed in NE China rest home fire

CHANGCHUN -- Seven people have been confirmed dead after a rest home caught fire in Northeast China's Jilin province Wednesday morning, local authorities said.

The fire broke out at 4:10 a.m. at a rest home in Chaoyang township, Huinan county. The fire was put out at 4:27 am.

There were 39 aged people living in the privately-run rest home. Thirty-two of them were rescued by firefighters.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
