NE China province elects 40 new national lawmakers
SHENYANG -- Northeast China's Liaoning province on Saturday elected 40 new national lawmakers following the ousting of 45 deputies for electoral fraud.
The 40 were chosen from 48 candidates at the eighth session of the 12th Liaoning Provincial People's Congress.
A total of 583 deputies to the provincial legislature voted at the session.
After scrutiny, the results will be submitted to the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee for approval.
In September 2016, 45 NPC deputies from Liaoning were disqualified after discovery of electoral fraud in 2013.
