Remarriage

Liu did not want to be a burden and many times asked for a divorce. Zhou repeatedly refused, saying "Wait for our daughter to grow up a little, and even if we get divorced, I will still take care of you."

The family only lived on the income from a small tea garden Zhou tended. In 2005, Zhou and Liu's financial situation was very poor and the couple was debt-ridden.

"At that time, I really worried that life would not go on, and I wanted someone to help me," Zhou said.

Zhao appeared in Zhou's life at that time. One day in 2005, Zhao entered Zhou's tea garden to help her pick tea leaves. Zhao was from Mengcheng, Anhui province, and was learning how to dry tea leaves to prepare them for the market.

Knowing of Zhao's appearance in his wife's life, Liu urged Zhou to divorce him. "Only when we got divorced, Yuying could get her happiness protected by law," Liu said.

After knowing each other for some months, Zhou told Zhao she wanted to marry him, but live in Liu's home and take care of Liu and their daughter.

Zhao promised her that he would "take care of Liu as his own brother, and take care of their daughter as his own."

In May 2005, Liu divorced Zhou, and Zhou married Zhao a month later. They lived in Liu's home to take care of him.

The ex-husband said, "I cried loudly when Zhao moved in. My wife had become the wife of another man and I also worried that I would be badly treated."
