Chinese elements in western mainstream media
With the rapid changes in China and the closer ties between China and the west, more Chinese elements are appearing in western mainstream media in various forms and contents.
The UK-based weekly magazine, The Economist, set a column for China in Jan, 2012. It has been 70 years since the magazine set the first special column for the United States in 1942.

After the "China Column", it increased its coverage of China in the magazine. In 2012, The Economist published over 200 reports about China, three times the volume as compared with 10 years ago. Meanwhile, the content of coverage also has extended from politics and economy to areas like society, culture and science.
As for TIME, it has a long history of using Chinese elements in its publication, which date back to 1924. In its issue published on Sep 8, 1924, Wu Peifu, a Chinese warlord, was on top of the cover.
