The Communist Party of China hopes to work with Japan's major political parties, including the Komeito Party, to improve relations, Vice-Premier Wang Yang said on Friday.

Wang made the remark during a meeting with Natsuo Yamaguchi, leader of Japan's Komeito Party, who is attending a high-level meeting between the CPC and world political parties in Beijing.

Wang extended a warm welcome to Yamaguchi.

Recalling the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last month, Wang noted that Xi had stressed improvement of Sino-Japanese relations based on mutual trust.

"China and Japan should further implement the consensus of the two countries' leaders, increase positive engagement and create a climate for practical cooperation," Wang said.

Wang also met on Friday with a delegation from the National Committee on United States-China Relations. He said the heads of state of both countries had reached consensus and set the direction for future Sino-US relations during US President Donald Trump's recent state visit to China.

Wang said he expected the committee to continue its active role in strengthening the level of understanding and mutual trust between China and the United States, providing a boost for the healthy and stable growth of bilateral relations for a long time to come.
