More efforts are needed to safeguard Chinese enterprises' legal interests when trade protectionism is emerging, said Zong Qinghou, chairman and general manager of Hangzhou Wahaha Group, the country's biggest beverage enterprise.

At a news conference ahead of the fifth session of the 12th National People's Congress, Zong, a national legislator, said as the winds of trade protectionism blow hard, China becomes a victim.

"Our products are of good quality and at low prices. But some countries are fighting against globalization and conducting anti-dumping investigations against Chinese enterprises," Zong said.

According Zong, China is a major growth engine of the world's economy and its huge market provides great opportunities for foreign enterprises.

"We are strong advocates of globalization. But at the same time, we hope the government can better leverage international trade rules to protect Chinese enterprises' legal interests," he added.
