March 4, 1985: Deng Xiaoping declares the importance of the North-South issue

On March 4, 1985, Deng Xiaoping met with the delegation of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and pointed out that issues of peace and development are the main issues in the modern world. The peace issue is the East-West issue, while the development issue is the North-South issue, he said, adding that the North-South issue is the core issue.
