Larry Lee graduated from PLA University of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. He began his career as a correspondent of People's Daily. He had worked as the chief reporter of Sing Tao Daily, and San Francisco and Washington Bureau Chief, and later as the overseas Editor-in-Chief.
He had published books such as Taiwan's General Election and The Last 100 Days of Colonial Hong Kong. Lee was also a guest lecturer of University of California at Berkeley, and a lecturer of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University and Tsinghua University. In 2005, he pushed the entire shareholding reform of China Insurance Media Co Ltd, the first of its kind in the media industry.
