The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China will launch first round of talks this week in Beijing on a proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between China and the ASEAN, the trade ministry said.

A Singapore delegation will be in Beijing from May 15-16 for the talks.

Leaders from the ASEAN and China last year agreed to work out an FTA within the next 10 years.
