Motorola to set up software development center in Southwest China

Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd. will set up a major software research and development base in a high-tech zone in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, according to an agreement signed between the company and Chengdu high-tech zone investment company here Tuesday.
With an investment of 500 million to 600 million yuan for the first five years, the software base will cover a total of 20,000 square meters in the western part of the Chengdu Industrial Development Zone of High and New Technology.
New center's functionThe base, Motorola's third software project in China, will carry out a series of high-tech cooperation projects with local software companies.
The base will be operated by the company's China Software Center, which was set up 1993 in north China's port city Tianjin.
