All judges in western China will receive on-the-job training in law application and court trial control skills from the Supreme People's Court (SPC) this year, said Xiao Yang, president of the SPC, here Tuesday.
The SPC has selected elite judges from courts in eastern regions and will dispatch them to 135 intermediate courts and over 1,000 lower level courts in the west to help train the local judiciary.
The tutors will share the experience of trials with counterparts in western areas and focus on key issues emerging from China's open-up policy.
"The move comes in a bid to further increase the quality of western judges and therefore to deal with the unbalanced legal development within China," said Xiao.
China's vast western regions have lagged far behind eastern areas. Western China is in urgent need of legal personnel.
