Champagne BarThe Champagne Bar has been rejuvenated to reflect Beijing's acceptance of present modern life.

Simple designs accent the subdued brown and white decor, and the seemingly small area actually conceals a music and VIP lounge, with the bar splitting the space in two, giving the choice of being swooned by the Indonesian jazz band or relaxing in the lounge.

Cyber-surfing is free for those who need to bring a laptop everywhere, no matter who they are with. The Van Gogh vodka comes in 10 psychedelic flavors. I sample an espresso vodka martini (RMB78). But champagne is the true order of the evening, with a classic selection of French bubbly (RMB688-888) served in bold tulip glasses. I chill listening to upbeat lounge and R&B music that makes me reminisce of soft moments in other countries.

·Perfect for: Meeting people with money and soul.
