Tomo: Music with a View

Updated: 2006-04-06 11:55

Tomo, right near Chaoyang Park's Mirror Lake, is a great place to get a taste of Beijing's diverse live music scene.

With traditional Mongolian art lining the walls, a cozy wood laden bar, a stage, and diverse menu of food and beverages, Tomo is an appealing change from many of Beijing's other live music venues that provide little in the way of comfort or variety. The house band, ripping out a mixture of Mongolian folk and hard rock, held the crowd's attention.

If you're not ordering beer, drink service might be a little slow, but you can enjoy a great view of the stage and one of Chaoyang Park's lakes from Tomo's upper lounge area. A variety of martinis, margaritas, and other cocktails run from RMB 40 and up, and a menu of assorted treats like dim sum, sushi, yogurts, French fries, and shish kabobs, all around RMB 40 each, provides snacks to enjoy while you wait for your drink and take in the view.
