Houhai heights

Moscow Restaurant & Bar is situated on the bridge linking Houhai and Qianhai lakes. Although its location may seem a bit obvious, especially at this time of year, its sun terrace is a great place to take in some rays and watch Tommy Tourist march by and swoon over the rubbish in shops that you used to love in your first month here.

A bit of a jack-of-all-trades, Moscow has a bar area, a restaurant and a glitzy stage area, with a regular line up of singers, bands and DJs.

A vast menu is also on offer although if you are just here for the sunshine, then a plate of spring rolls or fries (25 yuan) and a vegetable (28 yuan) or potato salad (22 yuan) should suffice.

At 25 yuan for a small bottle of Tsingtao, Moscow is not the cheapest kid on the block, but it doubtless pays an arm and a leg in rent for its key location at the bottleneck of the Houhai area.

But if you just want somewhere to sit in the sun and watch a portly, stretch pant world with earphones pass you by, a better location cannot be found.
