Hidden in a dark alley between the San Yu and Yan Yuan hotels lurks Together. Coffee shop by day and bar by night, its cleanliness makes for a startling contrast with the hutong outside.

Cedar furniture, covered in Jamaican colors, curls around a brick fireplace that is blazing during the colder months. For a reggae bar, Together has a limited musical selection-there's plenty of Bob Marley, but not much else.

Rastas and Kingston dancehall enthusiasts will be disappointed, but for folks in search of beer and classic Wailers tunes, Together can be a pleasant place for a drink with friends. Or make new ones with the bevy of international students who live in Jianwai SOHO and make up the bulk of the regular clientele.

The owner is happy to arrange for private parties with drinks and food provided. With a wider musical selection, Together could become a nice pre-party spot before heading off to your evenings final destination.
