Sequoia, the well-loved deli slash cafe of journalists off of Guanghua Lu has just opened up a new store.

Sequoia 2 sits quietly behind 3.3 Shopping Center. Not quite completely finished in the decorating department, carrying a smaller spread of options than its older brother and a rather narrow deck, the newbie is nevertheless off to a promising start. As one of the favored children brought in to replace the now chai'ed hutongs of Sanlitun's yesteryear, the cafe is decorated in a series of neutral, earthy tones with a staff indoctrinated with Western service standards.

With meaty, whole-wheat sandwiches (RMB 25-35), and an array of fresh juices (RMB 12) once word gets out that they do delivery, the people Sanlitun may soon wonder what their lives were like before Sequoia 2.
